Welcome to my space ๐ฉโ๐
Hi there ๐. Thanks for taking the time to explore my little corner in the vast internet. I am one of many software engineers weโve got on this planet ๐ช.
What is my story? ๐
I started my humble software engineering journey as a computer engineering student in the Obafemi Awolowo University. Before then I was just someone who loved tinkering with computers. In my second year in university I got exposed to the art of software development. I remember thinking this is so cool, writing instructions to control how the computer operates and designing interfaces for users to interact with. A user action e.g. โa simple click of a buttonโ โ in most cases, it translates to the computer executing hundreds to thousands of steps/instructions just to react to the userโs action. I am a very curious person by nature and I feel this has translated to how I learn things, I really love learning how computers work down to the bits (0/1) โ why not? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
My experience ๐ผ
I started my software development career in 2020 during the famous pandemic. Most universities in my country were on a break due to the fact we didnโt have good infrastructure for remote learning. I took the opportunity to learn how to develop web applications and since then I havenโt looked back. I initially started with backend application development, using MVC frameworks in PHP to develop simple CRUD APIs. Then I moved on to developing functional frontend applications using single page application frameworks. Now I work as a software engineer with expertise across the stack. Over the years I have grown to understand systems outside the bounds of just the language and the applications but also how the infrastructure supports them.
Reflection ๐ช
Over the years I have gotten good at understanding and designing systems, but I have come to realise I lack the ability to communicate efficiently with audiences from different backgrounds when collaborating โ which hinders my growth as an engineer. I thought to start journalling, hopefully the skill set acquired from drafting content would translate into how I interact and present my ideas.
What to expect from me ๐ฎ
So, in this little Tifeโs corner of the internet, I would start documenting things I learn, the cool stuff I am building, and interesting concepts I discover along the way.
Books I am currently reading ๐
I am not really a fan of reading books, but I am really trying to do more of it. I have always been someone who learns by doing and watching videos โ thanks, YouTube. Right now this is the only book I am reading Crafting Interpreters.
The invitation ๐
Thanks again for taking the time out of your day to explore my space. If my story resonated with you, I want to invite you to explore this space, hopefully you find something useful, interesting, or insightful to help you grow as a software engineer.
